UK fight fans can look forward to watching the conclusion of another World Boxing Super Series tournament after the WBSS partnered with Matchroom Boxing and Sky Sports to exclusively broadcast the massive Mairis Briedis vs Yuniel Dorticos Ali Trophy showdown later this month.
Yomar Alamo found his way back into the win column both in the ring and with home viewers. The unbeaten junior welterweight prospect saw a significant spike in viewership for his most recent Telemundo appearance, topping the February 28 show which averaged 396,000 viewers according to Nielsen Media Research. Alamo came up aces in the main event, scoring a 10-round majority decision over previously undefeated Kendo Castañeda live from Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

On the heels of Deontay Wilder’s first career loss, boxing fans can relive the former heavyweight titlist’s most recent win. Fox Sports has announced plans to launch an exclusive rebroadcast of Wilder’s repeat knockout win over Luis Ortiz, which will make its cable premiere on Sunday, March 1 at 10:00pm ET on FS1. The airing comes more than three months after their rematch originally aired live on Fox Sports Pay-Per-View last November from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
One loss against Errol Spence can’t erase years of prior good work. After another lengthy layoff in a career with too many, four-division titlist Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30 KO) returns to the ring against the always tough Jessie Vargas (29-2-2, 11 KO).
The Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder rematch was the most-watched heavyweight pay-per-view fight in the United States in more than 17 years. Their heavily hyped showdown did not, however, reach the expectations of its optimistic organizers. BoxingScene.com has learned that the event is projected to have produced slightly more than 750,000 pay-per-view buys in the U.S., the highest rate for a heavyweight fight through that platform since Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson in June 2002. Lewis’ eighth-round knockout of Tyson generated roughly 1,970,000 buys, the second-highest total for a heavyweight fight in pay-per-view history.
The past month has emphatically proven that the sport flows better when all parties work together. A collaborative effort between ESPN and Fox Sports to present the February 22 rematch between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder resulted in unprecedented programming measures, a packed venue and favorable ratings leading up to the actual Pay-Per-View event. The televised preliminary undercard produced a combined average viewership of 1.42 million from coverage airing live across ESPN and Fox Sports platforms from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Pick It: TBRB #1 Deontay Wilder vs. #2 Tyson Fury (Saturday, ESPN/Fox PPV, 9 PM EST). What really needs to be said about this heavyweight showdown? Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KO) attempts his eleventh WBC title defense against the only man he hasn’t defeated. Fury (29-0-1, 20 KO), for those who recognize the claim, attempts his sixth defense of history’s crown. The first time, they fought to a memorable if debated draw. It feels like this time we get a winner.
The 31st year of 'Boxeo Telemundo' will look a lot like its series debut. The long-running boxing series returns to its roots for its 2020 season premiere, with the show to air live from Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in Miami, Florida (Friday, Telemundo, 11:35pm ET). The famed venue returns to the fold for the first time in nearly 10 years, with Friday's show topped by the junior flyweight debut of Caguas, PR's Jonathan 'Bomba' Gonzalez (23-3-1, 13KOs) versus Mexico City's Saul 'Baby' Juarez (25-10-2, 13KOs) in a 10-round regional title fight.
Pick It: TBRB #4 Caleb Plant vs. Vincent Feigenbutz (Saturday, Fox, 8 PM EST) - Super middleweight has the pieces to be hot. It’s already plenty interesting. IBF titlist Caleb Plant (19-0, 11 KO) is a reason why. He’s got a compelling personal story, good television personality, and he can box his butt off.
