IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck is going through the toughest training camp of his career. Zaveck is preparing for his upcoming fight against ex-WBC titlist Andre Berto on September 3 in Biloxi, MS. Zaveck is currently in Magdeburg training under Dirk Dzemski.

Over the last month, Andre “The Beast” Berto learned a lot about himself in his new training headquarters of San Carlos, Calif.

When Lou DiBella announced to BoxingScene last month that Andre Berto’s first fight removed from his loss to Victor Ortiz would be a title fight with IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck, most observers penciled the former WBC champ in the win column almost immediately.

Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that South African super middleweight prospect Thomas Oosthuizen will make his American debut on Sept. 3 on the undercard of Andre Berto-Jan Zaveck from Biloxi, Miss., likely against Aaron Pryor Jr. Oosthuizen (15-0-1, 11 KOs) is a highly-regarded prospect, a rangy southpaw at 6'4" with good pop. His likely opponent Pryor Jr. (16-3, 11 KOs) would represent by far the sternest test of his career, coming off a big win against Librado Andrade in May.

San Carlos, California, is a long way from Winter Haven, Florida. Ask Andre Berto, who uprooted himself and his team 2,905 miles west to the San Francisco Bay Area city for his latest training camp.

Ryan Maquiñana was granted exclusive access into Brian Schwartz's Undisputed Gym in San Carlos, Calif., where Andre Berto has begun training in preparation for his clash against Jan Zaveck for the IBF world welterweight title. In this video, Andre works the bags while talking about multiple topics like Zaveck's style, his relationship with Victor Conte, bouncing back from the Ortiz loss, and his new surroundings in the San Francisco Bay Area. more.

Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that "it is looking very likely that it will be Gary Russell Jr." in the Sept. 3 HBO co-feature to Andre Berto's bout with Jan Zaveck in Biloxi, Miss. The featherweight, who shares the same manager as Berto -- Al Haymon -- last fought on the Amir Khan-Zab Judah undercard, defeating Eric Estrada over eight one-sided rounds, of which highlights were shown on HBO.

Sources revealed to me that Andre Berto and his team have been sighted in the Bay Area city of San Carlos, Calif., where the former WBC welterweight champion is reportedly working with Victor Conte in preparation for his next fight.

According to promoter Lou DiBella, the venue for the Sept. 24 IBF welterweight title fight between incumbent champ Jan Zaveck and his client, Andre Berto, has been finalized to take place at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss.
