Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has no problem with matching Vasyl Lomachenko against WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney.
In 2019, Haney was the mandatory challenger to Lomachenko's WBC title.
Lomachenko, in what became a controversial move, made a request to the WBC to make him the "Franchise" champion. The sanctioning body approved his request, with Lomachenko becoming the 'Franchise' champion and Haney was elevated to the status of full champion.
In 2020, Lomachenko lost his 'Franchise' status when he dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to Teofimo Lopez in a four belt unification clash.
As BoxingScene.com recently reported, Haney has reached an agreement to defend his title against former world champion Jorge Linares in the month of May.
Beyond that, Haney would love to get Lomachenko in the ring.
The two boxers recently traded insults on social media.
Haney questioned where Lomachenko has been - and Loma called Haney a "coward" who creates drama on social media.
Having suffered his second career defeat and losing his titles in the Lopez unification, Lomachenko appears to be more open to the idea of facing Haney.
Arum has interest in staging that fight.
At the same time, the veteran promoter is also interested in matching Lomachenko against opponents like WBC interim-lightweight champ Ryan Garcia and newly crowned WBC super featherweight champion Oscar Valdez.
“Loma vs Haney? That’s a fight we would certainly consider. That’d be a really good fight. There’s a lot of good fights for Loma… Loma can fight maybe Ryan Garcia. Or, if he wants to go down, maybe Oscar Valdez is a great match for Loma,” Arum told Barbershop Conversations.
