Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who co-promotes undisputed bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue, says the punching power of the Japanese is enough to take down just about anyone he faces.

Inoue (24-0, 21 KOs) had a banner year in 2022, with knockout wins over Nonito Donaire and Paul Butler to become the undisputed bantamweight champion. Donaire was blown out in two rounds, while Butler took a pounding until he was finally knocked out in the eleventh.

“The only guy who might be able to handle Inoue is Tyson Fury because he’s a little too big for him. But this Inoue, I mean he’s scary. He is like a loaded rifle. I get such a kick out of this guy. You really begin to feel sorry for his opponent halfway through his fights," Arum told Give Me Sport.

Arum promotes another big puncher in unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev - but the veteran promoter is not sure which boxer is a bigger one-punch hitter.

“That’s hard to say,” Arum said. “You know, that’s something you can’t tell.

“But obviously I’ve never seen anybody with the concussive power, pound-for-pound, that Inoue has. I mean, never, particularly at that weight. He sets the guy up and boom he knocks them out the guy can’t move. He is really something special.”

Inoue, a three division world champion, is expected to move up in weight to pursue more world titles at super bantamweight. All four world titles are held between two undefeated boxers - Stephen Fulton and Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
