Former world amateur boxing champion Yuri Alexandrov has died at the age of 50, the Russian Boxing Federation revealed.
The 1982 world featherweight champion died Tuesday, the federation said in a website statement, without specifying a cause of death.
As well as his world title, Alexandrov was European champion at bantamweight in 1983, before picking up a world bronze at the same weight a year later. He was also a four-time Soviet champion.
In 1989, Alexandrov launched a professional career, but lost three of his five fights and retired in 1992.
