Felix “Tutico” Zabala Jnr has ambitious plans for his latest signing.
The longtime president of All Star Boxing pleaded his case for Colombia’s Yuberjen Martinez to land a top 15 ranking at 112lbs with the WBO. The motion was made during the ratings portion of sanctioning body’s 38th annual convention, and barely 12 hours after the 34-year-old Martinez, 6-0 (6 KOs) posted his latest knockout win on a WBO-sponsored show in Bogota, Colombia.
“We are happy Yuberjen has found his home with All Star Boxing,” Zabala told BoxingScene in a provided quote. “The Zabala family has a rich history in Colombia; I came here at just 15 years old with my first world champion Miguel “Happy” Lora.
“We are now we are confident Yurbejen will carry that torch.”
Martinez’s official debut under the All Star Boxing will come on the company’s first show of 2026, as part of its ongoing series on ESPN Knockout in Latin America. Zabala informed BoxingScene that the bout will come with a regional title at stake.
It should help further the cause to get him ranked, though there was no time like the present to pitch the opportunity. Martinez’s October 29 knockout win came during this year’s WBO convention in Colombia, whom the flyweight proudly represented in the 2016 Rio and delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Martinez claimed a silver medal in Rio but dropped a controversial decision in the quarterfinal round of the Tokyo Games to local favorite Ryomei Tanaka. It was questionable enough to where his team filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) Ad Hoc Division, though the case was ultimately dismissed.
Shortly thereafter, Martinez embarked on his pro journey in 2022. He’s yet to go beyond the 5th round through six contests, all which have come in Colombia. His last two have taken place in Bogota, a 2nd round knockout of the Dominican Republic’s Juan Aguero, 6-2 (5 KOs) on the October 29 “WBO Night of Champions” card.
It was subsequently revealed that Martinez’s next fight – and future ring appearances -will come with the backing of All Star Boxing.
“I’m glad to final make this move in my pro career and sign with such a great company in All Star Boxing,” stated Martinez. “I want to bring more glory to my country and become world champion; I’m sure Tutico and Tutiking [Felix Zabala III] will make it reality.”
One such opportunity discussed between fighter and promoter was the possibility of racing to a major title.
WBO flyweight titlist Anthony Olascuaga is co-promoted by All Star Boxing and Teiken Promotions. Olascuaga is next due to defend his title on December 17 in Tokyo and is hopeful to move on to a unification bout shortly thereafter.
The more belts that the Los Angeles native can collect would only sweeten the pot for Martinez.
“We have no time to waste and will take an aggressive approach with Yuberjen,” insisted Zabala, who informed BoxingScene t.
