The remainder of Most Valuable Promotions’ card at the Convention Center in South Padre Island, Texas on October 18 continues to take shape as the company announced a number of bouts for the undercard.
In an eight round junior welterweight fight, Yolanda Vega, 10-1 (1 KO), will face Houston’s Miranda Reyes, 7-3-1 (3 KOs), while Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro, 5-0 (5 KOs), faces fellow unbeaten fighter David Gutierrez, 4-0 (2 KOs), in a six-round middleweight fight.
Also in action will be two-time U.S. national amateur champion Alexander Gueche, 9-0 (6 KOs), against Jaden Burnias, 7-4-2 (6 KOs), in a six-round junior featherweight fight, while Cuba’s Pedro Veitia, 6-0 (6 KOs), faces Mexico’s Xavier Zuniga, 4-0 (3 KOs), in a six-round junior middleweight fight.
These fights will support a championship double-header which pits WBC junior flyweight champion Lourdes Juarez, 38-4 (5 KOs), against Yesica Nery Plata, 30-2 (3 KOs), while Brownsville, Texas’ Omar Juarez, 19-2 (7 KOs), meets Omar Rosario, 14-2 (4 KOs), of Caguas, Puerto Rico in a ten-round junior welterweight fight.
Vega, 30, of Ciudad Obregon, Mexico is looking to bounce back from her first defeat, a shutout against the returning Holly Holm in June. Reyes is looking to bounce back from two straight defeats to world class boxers Caroline Dubois and Stephanie Han.
The 25-year-old Chaparro of Ridgewood, New York will be competing in his second straight six-round fight while Gutierrez, 26, will be making his United States debut.
