Middleweight contender Yoenli Hernandez is targeting WBC champion Carlos Adames after predictably making quick work of overmatched late substitute, Ramon De La Cruz Sena, the Argentinian who opted to not come out for the second round of Sunday’s contest at Hollywood, Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Though weighing in at the divisional limit of 160lbs, the 28-year-old Hernandez looked huge as he feasted on his opponent, effectively ending matters with a left-right to the body at the end of the first round. Though 39-year-old Sena, 24-41-3 (14 KOs), beat the count he went to his stool and stayed there.

“I feel very happy,” said Hernandez, 9-0 (8 KOs). “I want to continue fighting here and thank you for all the love from the crowd and my people in Cuba. I trained hard for this fight and just waited for an opportunity to take advantage. I want Carlos Adames next.”

Elsewhere on the bill, lightweight contender Armando Martinez Rabi, 17-0 (15 KOs), was forced to settle for a unanimous decision against Willmank Canonico Brito, 13-9-2 (11 KOs) of Mexico via Venezuela. The scores were 100-90, 98-92 and 99-91.

At heavyweight, Gustavo Trujillo cruised to 9-0 (8 KOs), with a third-round knockout of Colombian Juan Camilo Novoa, 35-14-1 (32 KOs) while Jardae Anderson, 10-1 (8 KOs), posted a minor upset when he knocked out Lorenzo Medina, 13-1 (11 KOs), in round two.
