With profound sadness, the World Boxing Council decrees today as World Mourning Day for the unfortunate passing away of boxer Lotte Mwale in a hospital in Zambia, Africa.

Lotte Mwale was one of the boxers who had been receiving from the WBC a monthly pension during several years, save the time when the organization went to bankruptcy and virtually all the monies went to boxer Rocchigiani.

The WBC deeply regrets the death of this great African boxing idol and will cover absolutely all the funeral expenses.

The WBC takes this opportunity to convey its wholehearted recognition to German promoter Wilfried Sauerland, for his humanitarian sensibility in sending $5,000 (US) to Lotte Mwale’s family.
