WBO/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is not going to wait on David Haye or Alexander Povetkin to make up their minds on a possible fight. Klitschko is looking to fight Povetkin next, the IBF mandatory since 2008. If the unbeaten Russian fighter passes on the match, then Klitschko will look for the next highest available contender in the IBF rankings - Sam Peter. Klitschko won a decision over Peter in 2005. Peter had him down three times in the contest. Klitschko won most of the rounds with his boxing and had Peter hurt in the twelfth round.
"We would prefer to meet with Povetkin and David Haye, and even with Samuel Peter. If Povetkin refuses to fight with me, then my next opponent is likely to be Peter," Klitschko told Alex Pavlov.
Klitschko also defended the next title defense of his brother. Vitali defends the WBC title against heavy underdog Albert Sosnowski on May 29.
"Don't underestimate Sosnowski. He's is in good shape - a puncher and a European champion. He has already threatened to knock Vitali out - therefore, he can not be underestimated. At one time I had underestimated Corrie Sanders, who had already been written off by everyone and how did it end?" - Klitschko said.
