Scottish light heavyweight contender Willy Hutchinson will box Mark Jeffers in Edinburgh on October 4.

The fight has been added to the Braehead Arena bill topped by the European title contest between Scotland’s upcoming featherweight star Nathaniel Collins and Cristobal Lorente, the champion from Spain.

Hutchinson is now part of the Shane McGuigan stable and he has not boxed since a September loss last year to Joshua Buatsi. In the fight before that, Hutchinson defeated long-time contender Craig Richards.

Hutchinson is 18-2 (13 KOs), while Jeffers is coming off a hard-fought loss to American Sean Hemphill over 10 rounds in Barnsley in June.

The Chorley man had been hoping to position himself into a fight with Callum Simpson until he ran into the tough New Orleans fighter.

Jeffers is 20-1 (7 KOs) and has done the majority of his work at super middleweight.
