WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) was a little disappointed last month, when Tyson Fury stunned Wladimir Klitschko to capture the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO world titles.

Wilder, who returns on January 16th against Artur Szpilka at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, felt he was very close to landing a fight with Klitschko in 2016.

Wilder has a trio of managers led by Al Haymon. One of those managers if Shelly Finkel, who happens to be the longtime adviser of Klitschko.

He says a fight with Klitschko could still happen down the line, but he believes that he won't get full credit, if he wins, because of Klitschko's loss to Fury. It was Klitschko's first defeat in over a decade.

"I've been preparing myself for this moment and it was getting this close, and now as I get closer its getting back to where it is. I wanted to be that guy to dethrone him and unify the division in the same night. It didn't happen. Sometimes things don't go as planned," Wilder said.

"Do you think if I fought him now and beat him, that I would get full credit? No, because Tyson did it. If I beat Klitschko, they will discredit it, but if I beat Tyson what could they f***ing say now. He's a younger guy. Even if I stopped Klitschko in one round, I'm the type of fighter who never gets his full credit."
