UFC president Dana White believes there will be fireworks on August 26th, when the biggest star of his company steps inside a boxing ring for a his first professional fight, as a boxer, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

McGregor will have a tough task in front of him, as he goes up against five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs).

Mayweather, 40 years old, returns for the first time since retiring from boxing in September 2015.

McGregor and White are banking on the possibility that Mayweather may have lost a step or two with age and inactivity. The contest takes place at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds and the fighters will wear 10 ounce gloves.

According to Mayweather, his body is not the same and he's having a tougher time than expected with his ongoing training camp.

Most of the critics, in boxing and mixed martial arts, see the contest going two ways - McGregor being dominated and eventually stopped or Mayweather playing it safe and outboxing him for twelve one-sided rounds.

Regardless of the outcome, White is not convinced that fans will watch a lackluster fight. He does expects the probability of Mayweather getting on his bike, but he also expects McGregor to press the entire time looking to do damage.

"All these naysayers, let me tell you what," White said to ESPN. "This fight goes two ways. Either Floyd Mayweather runs around and does his style of fighting, defense, stays away from Conor and tries to not get hit. Conor will go right after Floyd Mayweather and try to knock him out. That's Conor's style. When have you ever seen a boring Conor McGregor fight?

"And then there's the other side, where Floyd thinks that Conor is so weak at boxing he comes right after him. Speed kills, tries to use his speed and actually knock Conor McGregor out. I want it to be a good fight and I truly believe it will be a good fight."
