The president of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Puerto Rico's Francisco 'Paco' Valcárcel, recently took a trip to Mexico and met with Juan Manuel Márquez to discuss his future. Marquez, 40-years-old, is the mandatory challenger to WBO 140-pound champion Ruslan Provodnikov.

During their discussion, Valcarcel spoke to Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KOs) about the possibility of a fifth fight with Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs).

Valcarcel tried his best, but Marquez stood firm on his rejection of facing Pacquiao again. Marquez wants to close their rivalry with the sixth round knockout that he secured in their fourth showdown in December 2012.

“I do not know if he will change his opinion. I really don't know. Juan's position is that he had a thorn in his side and he already pulled it out when he beat Pacquiao, and he doesn't see a reason to give [Pacquiao] the opportunity [of a fifth fight]. That's what Juan is thinking," Valcarcel said.
