East London – Nkosinathi Joyi bounced back in style when he won the the WBA interim mini-flyweight title in East London on Saturday night. Joyi stopped Argentine Walter Rojas in the first round to redeem himself, after Mexican Mario Rodriguez snatched away the South African's IBF minimumweight crown three months ago. It took Joyi only two minutes, 13 seconds to stop Rojas, who went into the fight with a record of 23 wins and two defeats.

Meanwhile, Zolani Marali dethroned Ali Funeka on points in a WBF junior-welterweight title contest in the main supporting bout.

National Indoor Centre, Kingston, Jamaica - Nicholas “The Axeman” Walters (22-0, 18 KOs) captured the vacant WBA featherweight title with a seventh round TKO over Daulis Prescott (26-2, 19 KOs). Walters dropped Prescott in fourth, fifth and seventh. After barely surviving the third knockdown, the referee waved off the contest.
