Haiti´s main boxing promoter, Mr. Jacques Deschamps Fils, announced the first professional boxing card since the earthquake of January 2010. The action returns to the Karibe Convention Center in Petionville, Port Au Prince, on Saturday November 8.
Deschamps company, Boxe Internationale, presents a five fight event which includes the participation of well known names such as former world Champions Edgar Sosa from Mexico and Alicia Ashley from Jamaica.
In the main event, Haitian lightweight based in Panama, Evens Pierre (23-1) will face Nicaraguan former world contender Rene “El Super Chirizo” Gonzalez (31-6-1) for the vacant WBA Fedelatin belt.
Another Fedelatin title will be disputed between Haitian light heavyweight Azea Augustama (17-2) and Dominican Andy Perez (19-1).
Sosa faces Panamanian flyweight Carlos “Shanghai” Melo on 10 rounds, Ashley will fight 8 rounds against Grecia Nova from the Dominican Republic.
Cruiserweights Rafael Lerose from Haiti and Armin Mrkanovic from Bosnia will open the show on a six rounds clash after three amateur fights.
WBA featherweight world champion, Jamaican Nicholas “The Axe Man” Walters, managed by Mr. Deschamps, will be honored in a special ceremony after his impressive victory by knockout over “Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire earlier this month.
