BELFAST – Heavy-handed Manchester cruiserweight prospect Pat Brown, 4-0 (4 KOs), blitzed Belfast-based Nigerian Austine Nnamdi in two rounds at Windsor Park

Nnamdi, 12-6 (10 KOs), was dropped once and hurt when the end came.

Nnamdi planted his feet and tried to battle back but he was dropped by a right hand in the second and Brown waited patiently for another opening. It came with a left hook, and Nnamdi lost control of his legs – and as he started to sag the referee jumped in to save him from the prospect’s follow up. He protested, but the fight was only going one way and an early finish had seemed inevitable.

"When I put him down, I wanted to chill out and get the rounds in," said Brown. Moments later it was over.

The time of the stoppage was 1:51, and the referee Hugh Russell Jnr had seen enough. It had been set for eight; the big punching Brown needs rounds. His promoter Eddie Hearn said he'd like to match Brown with the likes of John Hedges and Aloys Junior.

McCann

Former UFC star “Meatball” Molly McCann made her professional boxing debut at bantamweight and got off to a solid start with a sixth-round stoppage of the Ireland-based Pole Kate Radomska, who drops to 4-8.

Liverpool’s McCann switched stances in the first round and landed a good right hand and left hook while orthodox towards the end of the session.

McCann clattered Radomska with a left and followed up and, while under pressure, tried to kick McCann away with her right foot, but was not warned for an infraction that the crowd clearly saw. McCann switched more in the third and landed more shots and heavier blows and she scored a knockdown in the fifth – a right hand that landed high on the head – as Radomska continuously retreated. With McCann well on top in the sixth Russell Jnr opted to stop it after 1:21 of the final session.
