Middleweight contender Brian Vera (23-6, 14KOs) is not going to worry about the rehydrated weight of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32KOs). The two of them will clash on September 28th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The contracted weight has been raised several times, from 163 to 165 to 168 and now 173.
Earlier this week it became clear that Chavez Jr. would have some issues making the weight limit of 168-pounds. Vera was paid additional funds to have the weight limit increased to 173.
"The fight has a limit of 173 pounds, that's the decision we made and everything is fine. The weight is not a problem for me, I feel strong and I'm ready to work to win. I do not know if Chavez will be slow [with all of the added weight], it could happen, but I am prepared to fight my fight in the ring. I feel very strong, I do not know what he's going to do but I'm ready," Vera said.
