Bryan Vera, speaking to Bernardo Osuna on the Heavy Hitter program, said former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. looked very dehydrated at the weigh-in on Friday afternoon. Vera faces Chavez on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles. The fight is taking place at 173-pounds - ten pounds above the orginally discussed weight because Chavez has been having weight struggles in the last few weeks. On Wednesday the fight weight was moved from 168 to 173 after Vera was compensated a reported six figure sum. Chavez weighed 172.4 on Friday, and Vera was 171.2 pounds.
"To me he looked dehydrated. He worked hard for the last two days [to make weight], and he doesn't [like the same fighter] we saw during the week at the [final] press conference. He's going to pay for not being disciplined...in the late rounds you are going to notice. I have move around the ring and not allow him to feel comfortable in the ring, to [keep him] busy," Vera said.
