BoxingScene.com has been advised by multiple sources that junior lightweight contender Andy Vences (23-1-1) will return to the ring on July 7th against Luis Alberto Lopez (20-2). The fight will be televised by ESPN as one of the featured bouts underneath the Jose Zepeda-Ivan Baranchyk main event.
The fight will be held in “The Bubble” at the MGM Grand Garden Arena without any fans in attendance as Top Rank and ESPN continue to present cards on Tuesdays and Thursdays as through at least the end of July.
The 29-year-old Vences will be fighting for the first time since his October victory over Mark Bernaldez in Reno, Nevada. In his previous fight he suffered his first career loss against Albert Bell.
Lopez also hasn’t fought since last year. The Mexicali, Mexico has won 3 fights in a row since losing to unbeaten prospect Ruben Villa.
In the main event, Zepeda is coming off the biggest win of his career, a unanimous decision victory over former two-division champion Jose Pedraza.
Baranchyk last fought in October when he stopped Gabriel Bracero in 4 rounds. In his previous fight the former IBF junior welterweight champion suffered his first career loss against Josh Taylor.
