Luis Alberto Lopez is ready to return to the ring against Eduardo Montoya tomorrow at Palenque del Fex, in Mexicali, Mexico. The bout will be contested at a 133lbs catchweight.

Lopez, the former belt holder, is making his first return to the ring following his highlight-reel knockout loss to Angelo Leo in August. After the fight, Lopez had a brain bleed. Last week, his team told BoxingScene they had carefully monitored Lopez's health ahead of this bout.

“We’ve done extensive care and doctor visits as well as taking many precautions for this comeback fight,” Hector Fernandez, Lopez's co-manager, told BoxingScene.

Lopez hit the scales at 132.6lbs, while Montoya weighed in at 132.2lbs.

Lopez, 30-3 (17 KOs), had won 13 fights in a row dating back to 2019 before his loss. Now 31 years old and fighting at home in Mexicali, he will look to the momentum he had when in possession of the IBF featherweight title, which he successfully defended three times.

Montoya, 21-7-1 (14 KOs), is from Reynosa, Mexico, and has been stopped in five of his seven losses. He won a unanimous decision over Luis Fernando Ruiz Angeles, 6-2 (3 KOs), in December. Montoya, also 31, is 3-3 in his last six fights.
