American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas - Featherweight Oscar Valdez (5-0, 5KOs) demolished Gil Garcia (5-5-1, 1KO) in two rounds. Valdez hurt Garcia in the second, and then jumped in him with both hands until the referee stepped in to wave things off. Garcia was down once in the fight.
Welterweight contender Mikael Zewski (20-0, 15KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over Damian Frias (19-8-1, 10KOs). All three judges saw it 77-74. Zewski dropped Frias in the first minute with a hard shot to the body. But then the veteran lasted lasted the rest of the way as Zewski outworked him, but he was unable to get a stoppage. Frias, who came on strong in the final minute of the fight, has never been stopped.
Middleweight contender Matt Korobov (20-0, 12KOs) knocked out Ossie Duran (28-11-2, 11KOs) in the third round. Duran went down from a counter left in the second. At the start of the third, a crushing shot to the body sent Duran down for the count.
Super bantamweight Tony Lopez (4-0, 2KOs) scored a brutal one punch knockout of Jonathan Hernandez (1-3-1, 1KOs). In the fourth, Lopez landed a vicious left hand to send Hernandez down and fully out.
Junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (33-0-1, 21KOs), with trainer Freddie Roach in his corner, demolished Ryan Davis (24-11-3, 9KOs) in two rounds. Vanes dropped Davis twice in the second, prompting the corner of Davis to throw in the towel.
Puerto Rico welterweight prospect John Karl Sosa (7-0, 4 KOs) battered Ramon Pena (7-3, 5KOs) of Mexico in two rounds. Sosa came out like a lion, attacking Pena with everything and then put him down with a vicious hook to the body in the second round to score a knockout.
