Berndt Boente, a manager for the both Klitschko brothers, named a short list of six possible opponents for the WBC heavyweight champion Vitaly Klitschko (44-2, 40 KOs) to Hamburger Abendblatt. According to the German daily, Vitali, who turns 41 on July 19, is still scheduled fight in Germany either on September 1 or on September 8.
Vitali’s hit list includes: WBC #3 and WBC Silver champion Bermane Stiverne (22-1-1, 20 KOs) of Canada; undefeated but hugely untested WBC #4 Pole Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KOs); WBC #9 rising star Seth Mitchell (25-0-1, 19 KOs), who has an ongoing streak of 10 straight kayos and a scheduled fight with the K2’s Johnathon Banks in July; WBC #11 German-Syrian boxer Manuel Charr (21-0, 11 KOs, who has a large local following; WBC #13 Cuban Luiz Ortiz (16-0, 13 KOs), who blew away a hand-picked opponent on Saturday night; and WBC #14 veteran Franklin Lawrence (17-2-2, 12 KOs).
No opponent is officially set and no one has received an official offer or a contract for the fight yet.
