Tyson Fury has been summoned in front of the British Boxing Board of Control.

The unified world heavyweight champion, who was stripped of his IBF belt earlier this week for failing to make a mandatory defence and instead agreeing to an immediate rematch with Ukrainian former ruler Wladimir Klitschko, was asked to attend a meeting in the new year in relation to his recent media comments.

Fury (25-0, 18 KOs), 27, has received scrutiny from the majority of angles since his November 28 triumph in Düsseldorf, Germany after it emerged that he made sexist comments and offended homosexuals by mentioning them in the same sentence as abortion and paedophilia.

The Brit, who was nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year, has denied he is a homophobe and claimed he is "uniting the world."

He will meet with the Board’s general secretary, Robert Smith, in the new year after the organisation met to discuss the matter on Wednesday.

No official date has yet been set for the meeting, but confirmation will be made in due course.
