TalkSPORT/GoldStarPATTAYA, Thailand — Tyson Fury was the lighter man for only the fourth time in his career – and for the first time since 2011 – at Thursday’s weigh-in for his July 24 bout with Mariusz Wach.
The pair will face off Friday at Max Muaythai Stadium in Thailand.
Wach, 46, was the first to step on the scales and looked fleshy, weighing in at 291.4lbs. The 37-year-old Fury then hit the scales at a relatively trim 265lbs, a little under three pounds lighter than he weighed for his comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.
“I’ve never ever faced a man who is heavier than me,” joked Fury following a playful final face off. “He’s nearly two-and-a-half stone heavier than me and I’m usually the fucking fat cunt aren’t I? Mister Slim now!”
The only previous opponents to weigh more than Fury, 35-2-1 (24 KOs), are Danlil Peretyatko (2009), John McDermott (2009), and Derek Chisora (2011).
Wach, 39-13 (20 KOs), weighed 274lbs for his most recent bout, a March loss to Viktor Vykhryst.
