Philadelphia's Steve "USS" Cunningham, 25-6 (12), is helping former foe Tyson Fury, 21-0 (15), prepare for his September 28th meeting with former WBA heavyweight titlist David Haye at the Manchester Arena, which will be shown live on Sky Sports Box Office here in the U.K. Cunningham was stopped in seven rounds by Fury at Madison Square Garden's Theater venue in April but will now help the 25-year-old contender prepare for his biggest test to date.
Indeed, Cunningham floored Fury in the second round with a quick right hand and gave the 6' 9'' Mancunian problems before being knocked out. The 37-year-old former IBF cruiserweight champion is the same height as Haye and is capable of echoing Haye's speed, movement and quick right hands to aid Fury preparations. Fury's other sparring partners are Michael Sprott and Dillian Whyte.
"Cunningham will work with Tyson for the remainder of the camp for the fight with Haye," said Peter Fury, Tyson's trainer, when announcing the news on teamfuryboxing.com. He also confirmed that the team are trying to bring in "Fast" Eddie Chambers as a sparring partner.
