West Palm Beach - Tyrone Spong maintained his undefeated career in the pro ranks by grabbing his twelfth win in twelve fights, all won by knockout.
The most recent win saw him leave an opponent stretched on the canvas - and this time it was experienced Colombian Santander Silgado - who went to sleep in the very first round, a Spong retained the WBC Latino heavyweight crown.
The unbeatable puncher continued his thunderous march through the ranks, after being a highly valued fighter in mixed martial arts and he did not care about the Colombian's credentials as he left him face down in the ring.
It was quick, but remarkable with what the native of Paramaribo did in the fight. He connected on Silgado with two hand combinations to send him down hard to the canvas.
The nomination was impressive, but Silgado, after being treated on the stage and having regained consciousness, returned to his dressing room in a normal state.
Spong picked up his ninth win by way of a first round knockout. The Colombian veteran dropped down to 28 wins, six losses and 22 knockouts.
Also on the card, featherweight Ruben Garcia won by split decision over ten rounds against José Estrella, who turned out to be a better rival than expected and the scores were 95-93, 96-93 and 91-98.
The win gave "Tibio" García the WBC Latin featherweight belt and the applause of the attendees who celebrated the mastery with which he closed the fight, giving a lesson in boxing to his brave countryman.
Garcia was left with a mark of 24-3-1 with 10 KOs and Estrella with 20-14-1 with 6 KOs.
Tijuana native Víctor Fonseca surprised the betting favorite with his aggressive and effective boxing, as he won a decision over Yucatán´s Manuel "Venado" Ceballos to snatch the WBO Latino light heavyweight crown.
Fonseca, now with a record of 17-8-1 with 14 KO, is back in the mix for something better in his next outing.
