Super middleweight prospect Tommy Hyde moved to 14-0 (9 KOs) on Saturday, defeating Mick Hall by third round stoppage at Parochial Hall in Gurranabraher, Cork, Ireland.

The 26-year-old Hyde was fighting in his home country of Ireland for just the fourth time.

"I’m delighted to get another good win at home in front of a loud Irish crowd,” said Hyde according to a press release. “I was happy with my performance and felt like I brought some of the things we have been working on in the gym into the ring on fight night. I have been working hard with my coach, Lee Beard, in Manchester, and feel like I’m improving and showing it in every fight. I’m already looking forward to the next one and I’m excited to see what the next opportunity is.”

The 39-year-old Hall, a Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom native, dropped to 15-4 (2 KOs) with the loss, and was fighting for the first time since July of 2020. The fight was stopped at the 2:54 mark.

Gary Hyde, the father of “The Governor” and the event’s promoter, was happy with what he saw on Saturday.

“It’s great filling these small halls and at the same building,” said Gary Hyde. “Tommy was in with an experienced fighter. Tommy took full control of the right in round 1. He kept Hall on his back foot and as soon as he felt Tommy’s power, he was just trying to survive. Tommy landed a jab to the body, a double jab to the head, and followed up with a vicious right uppercut that broke Hall’s nose. He lost any of his earlier ambitions and was counted out.”

In other results, Ryan McCarthy won a four-round decision in a welterweight fight, winning his pro debut by the score of 40-35 over Wendall Da Costa Santos, 1-8 (1 KO), while light heavyweight Brian Long, 4-0 (2 KOs), remained unbeaten with a 40-36 decision over London’s Ife Jarrett, 0-13-1.
