WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KOs) wants IBF/WBC champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KOs) to know - if the money is right, there will be a fight. Bradley is firing back at the recent comments from Alexander and his team. Bradley returns on HBO on July 17 and was left without an opponent after Marcos Maidana withdrew on Monday. Alexander returns on HBO in August and doesn't have an opponent.
A few days ago, Alexander's trainer Kevin Cunningham dared Bradley to step up and fight.
"He has no opponent. We have no opponent. They are the two best junior welterweights in the world. The only problem is, Tim Bradley is not ready to fight Devon Alexander. They want to claim they are number one but they don't want to have a fight with the best guy in the division to prove that they are the best in the division," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
Bradley told Lem Satterfield of AOL's Boxing FanHouse that he's ready to fight Alexander if HBO puts up enough money to make the fight happen.
"We can make that fight happen, but the money has to be there for me. He's the No. 2 fighter in the division, and they've got me in the No. 1 spot. We're the two best in the divison is how I feel. It just depends on the money on that man, you know?" said Bradley.
"If HBO is willing to definitely give me a number that I would be worth, then we can make that fight happen. He's a two-belt holder, and a unified champion. I have the WBO belt. This is a huge, mega fight for the fans, and the boxing fans want to see it. It just depends on if HBO wants to put up the money for it. I'm game. I'm not afraid of Devon. You know? Let it be known, that I ain't afraid of Devon."
