Former two-division world champion Timothy Bradley is looking for the biggest name possible when he returns to the ring later this year.
Bradley was in action last month, when he was dropped twice and lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Manny Pacquiao in their trilogy showdown from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Since that defeat, Bradley has been rather quiet. Pacquiao retired from boxing after that bout and is now a senator in the Phillipines.
Bradley is not looking for any tuneups in the fall. He wants a big name and there are plenty of them in the welterweight division.
"You gotta go big-time, man. It’s about the big fighters. Like I said, it’s all about legacy. I want to fight the big fish,” Bradley said on The Koy Pond podcast.
IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook had tried to secure Bradley for a fight in the summer, but his team was advised by Top Rank that Bradley would not be available at that time.
Bradley (33-2-1, 13 KOs) also denied reports that his wife and manager, Monica, is the point-person when it comes to making a decision on retiring from the ring.
“Ultimately, I think it boils down to me all the time, man,” Bradley responded. “You know, my wife, even though she would put her two cents in, ultimately I have to be comfortable and content with my career. Cause it’s my career, it’s not hers — it’s mine.”
“At the end of the day, when I’m content, when I’m happy, then I’ll hang up the gloves. She won’t make that decision for me. My wife would never dare to make a decision like that for me. She’d never want me to have any kind of remorse or any kind of regret or any kind of resentment towards her if something happened or something didn’t go right or she put my career to a hold, or stopped my career. She doesn’t want to have that.”
