The long awaited Keith Thurman-Shawn Porter showdown finally takes place on June 25th with the Barclays Center serving as the venue.  The bout will be televised on CBS with WBA welterweight champion Jesus Cuellar facing former multi-division Abner Mares in the co-feature bout.

In the lead up to the fight Porter has been respectful and really hasn't said a whole lot. Most of the trash talk has came from Porter's father and trainer Kenny.

The 27-year-old Thurman believes that is because Shawn is not only a fighter with class but that his confidence level is probably very high in the lead up to the fight.

"Well you know Shawn is a very respectable kind of guy. He shows respect to all of his opponents. When he has made comments he's pretty much said nothing but good stuff. They feel strong. They feel confident. They train hard and they have been injury free so they should feel confident in that aspect as well," said Thurman who feels that the elder Porter does most of the talking to deflect pressure from his son.

"I think Kenny Porter's whole approach to it is for his son to just box and not worry about talking. The trainer I guess is the hype man. Obviously he is not just the trainer, he is the father. They were world champions. They are trying to be world champion again and that is probably their main focus, grabbing the world title and showing the world that Shawn Porter belongs at the top. We are going to do what we do best which is pick our shots, use our movement, use our defense and pretty much out point, outbox and we are looking to out damage Shawn Porter as well so it is going to be a good one."

Thurman insists that he has no hard feelings towards either of the Porters.  The former sparring partners both have been friendly towards each other in the past and probably will be after the fight is over.

While Thurman said that he won't talk trash towards his opponent, he did say that he definitely sees flaws in Porter and that he is will exploit them when they step in the ring on the 25th.

"I like both (of them) you know. If they want to talk trash then we can talk trash. I am really going to listen to what the fighter has to say because I am fighting the fighter. I am not fighting the trainer. If I was to go off on Kenny Porter there is nothing of it. I don't get to punch Kenny in the face so what is the purpose of going off on him - but if Shawn Porter was to go and say something that I think is disrespectful then obviously I am going to have an opinion about that and then we are going to have some words and after the words we can throw down and really solve the problem.

"So to me that is the only purpose if you want to say something about the guy. I am not going to say nothing bad about Shawn.  I think he's a great fighter. I do think his movement is predicable and due to that I believe I am going to be victorious. I think I am going to be able to read him inside the ring and do whatever I am able to see and make the proper adjustments to win the fight the way I normally do," Thurman told BoxingScene.com.
