MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith "One Time" Thurman (25-0, 21KOs) is still very hungry to get his hands on pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs).

Mayweather is scheduled to fight again on September 12th, likely at the MGM Grand. Thurman was among the many who were disappointed with the in-ring action of Mayweather's last fight against Manny Pacquiao.

Now that a fight with Pacquiao has come and gone, Thurman believes Mayweather is using the "retirement" angle to sell his next pay-per-view. During the post fight press conference which followed his Pacquiao victory, Mayweather announced to the media that his fight in September would be his last - although most expect him at least come back next May for fight number 50.

"A lot of people felt they overpaid [those guys], this and that. I told everybody that I don't think [Mayweather] can even sell his next fight without declaring that its going to be his last fight, regardless of whether it is or not. I think he needs to declare it to sell tickets," Thurman said.

At this point, Thurman feels a big percentage of the boxing audience is rallying to see Mayweather take a loss.

"At the end of the day man, Floyd Mayweather has hogged a lot of the spotlight...the way he chooses his opponents, the way of the hype all around him and his fights and everything. People are more attracted to Floyd to watch him fall more than climb, because he's been at the top forever. People are waiting for the law of gravity to kick in. What goes up must come down, that's what they are waiting on," Thurman said.
