WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith 'One Time' Thurman (24-0, 21KOs) is going to test the chin of Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (32-2-1, 18KOs) very early in their contest on March 7th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Their fight headlines the very first showing of Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions series on NBC.
Thurman has wanted to face Guerrero for a very long time and wants nothing more than to score a knockout victory over the very durable former multi-division champion. Guerrero has rarely tasted the canvass and has never been stopped. His last defeat, in 2013, was a twelve round decision loss to pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"At the end of the day I believe I’m gonna be more accurate, obviously more powerful. First thing’s first, we gotta see if he can take the punch. I know he’s got a great chin, he’s taken a lot of peoples punches but even though I didn’t move them out my last fight, I still created the knockdown," Thurman told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.
"There’s only been one fighter that ever went the distance and did not get put on the blue canvas, and that was Jan Zaveck. At the end of the day, I’ve either stopped or dropped everybody but one person that’s stepped in the ring with me, and I don’t see why we’re not gonna go and drop Robert Guerrero this up and coming event. I’m looking forward to it."
