It was recently reported by BoxingScene.com and other media outlets that Shane Mosley Jr. tested positive for amphetamines in his post-fight drug test after his crushing 51 second knockout of Jason Kelly on the June 27th BKB event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Speculation on many social networks ran rapid afterwards on what type of "amphetamines" Mosley tested postive for.
Team Mosley spoke to BoxingScene.com and admit that the 24-year-old Mosley Jr. made a mistake in not listing Adderall on his pre-fight evaluation.
Adderall is a very common prescription drug used to treat ADHD. The Nevada State Athletic Commission does allow its athletes to apply for Therapeutic Use Exemptions which does include using Adderall.
The Mosley camp has provided BoxingScene.com with a copy of Mosley Jr.'s prescription for the drug:
With the positive test, Mosley has been scratched from this Saturday's Sergey Kovalev-Nadjib Mohammedi card and he might be forced to miss appearing on his father's card next month in Los Angeles when Mosley Sr. faces Ricardo Mayorga at The Forum. There will be a hearing with the Nevada Commission on August 13th to determine if he's be able to fight on the August 29th card.
