Speaking with Sky Sports News, Adam Booth, the manager and trainer of WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, explained the obstacles with making a fight with either Klitschko brother at the moment. During the last few days, both Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko have fired verbal bombs in Haye's direction. Haye promises to fight at least one of the Klitschko brothers in 2011, but Booth says the fight can't be made right now.
Certain obligations have to be met. Vitali has to face the winner of next month's WBC eliminator between Ray Austin and Odlanier Solis, Wladimir is defending his WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Derek Chisora on December 11, and Haye himself has a mandatory WBA title defense against former champion Ruslan Chagaev.
"David has a mandatory WBA challenger that he has to oblige," Booth said. "Wladimir has a fight on December 11 with some guy from England, and Vitali has to fight the winner of Ray Austin and Odlanier Solis who are boxing in a title eliminator. So as it stands, all three of them have a situation that needs to be discussed with governing bodies and with each other before we even get to the stage of negotiating the fight."
To show their desire to fight, Booth has challenged the Klitschkos to make their negotiations public, so the fans and media can be fully aware of what both sides are saying during the fight discussions.
"Make no mistake, David desperately wants to fight a Klitschko. Whatever route we go now, we promise we will make that fight happen," he said. "We will do public negotiations, we will let everybody see what is being discussed. I'd like to see if the other side agree to that."
