Umar Kremlev of Patriot, who is part of the promotional team to Fedor Chudinov, expects his fighter to reclaim the WBA world title and his undefeated record.
As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, WBA super middleweight world champion Felix Sturm tested positive for stanozolol after winning his world championship rematch with Chudinov. Sturm plans to appeal, saying he knows he's clean.
Stanozolol is a steroid popular among bodybuilders. The test took place after the Chudinov win on February 20.
"At first I was shocked," Sturm told German news agency SID. "This is all very strange, mainly that it took eight weeks until I was told the results. Germany's professional boxers' association was not informed of the positive test either, just me and my fitness trainer."
"I must have been tested a hundred times - blood and urine both. There's never been anything. I have an absolutely clear conscience. I will seek out a lawyer. This is not what I've been working for over the past 26 years. I'll fight this like a lion, as in the ring."
Kremlev says Sturm should be open to criminal prosecution in Germany. The WBA has already become involved.
"The outcome of the fight will be canceled out and the belt should be returned Fedor Chudinov. The WBA has also written a letter to the team Sturm. If Sturm does not have the B Sample tested by May 9, then the outcome of the fight will be forfeited and the belt will revert back to Fedor Chudinov," Kremlev said.
"The drugs which Sturm took, stanozolol, is even even for the horses who compete in races. I think that Sturm could be open to a criminal case, because this drug....even in America, and in Germany, is strictly prohibited. It is a very strong drug."
