Earlier this week, BoxingScene.com ran an article in which Kell Brook (29-0, 19KOs) said that he planned on knocking out IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13KOs). The two fighters square off in a Showtime televised fight on January 19th.
Alexander's manager and trainer Kevin Cunningham took exception to the undefeated welterweight contender's comments. He said that he Brook is a good fighter but isn't on the same level as his Alexander.
"Kell Brook is a good, solid fighter but he doesn't bring anything to the ring that Devon hasn't already seen. He's not a big puncher. He's not extremely fast and he's not slick. So what's so special about this guy?" Cunningham stated.
Cunningham laughed off Team Brook's comments about coming to America and taking Alexander's title by saying that the only thing Brook will be leaving with is his first loss.
"I see the comments being made by Brook and his promoter saying, 'He's going to take Devon out.' That's funny. The only thing that Brook is going to do is leave the United States the same way he came, belt less," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
