Over the past few weeks BoxingScene.com has ran several articles in which former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan and Team Devon Alexander have gone back and forth over a potential fight between the two that would take place in December.
In one of the articles, Khan claimed that Alexander is trying to get out of the fight. There had been talks that the fight could take place in Dubai, but in the article Khan said that he has no problem with facing Alexander in the United States.
"We are looking at December 7 for my next fight and looking at opponents," said Khan.
"I have tried to get Devon Alexander. It was looking promising. He said he wanted to fight at the start and now it slowly seems that he is not 100 percent sure about it, coming up with excuses. Even if it's not in Dubai, I will fight him in America, I will fight him wherever."
Alexander's manager and trainer Kevin Cunningham fired back and said that Khan is the one having second thoughts about the fight. With Khan being a possible 2014 opponent for WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Cunningham wouldn't be surprised if Khan goes in a different direction for his December ring return.
"I don't blame Team Khan, I would duck Devon too if I were them. Rumors are swirling that they are looking for a softer touch. That's their best bet if they want to make it to Mayweather," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
