The president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, says WBC/WBO/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. proved his point last Saturday night in Las Vegas, setting himself as the "best of this era" with a twelve round unanimous decision over Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Sulaiman watched the fight ringside and says he was impressed with Mayweather's boxing abilities. Pacquiao suffered a shoulder injury during the contest. He came into the fight with an injury, which he further injured in the fourth round. Pacquiao had surgery on Wednesday and it's going to take four to six months for the rehab process.
"Mayweather displayed an exceptional boxing class, hit and not be hit, and did enough to remain unbeaten and prove to the world who is the best pound for pound," said Sulaiman. "It is clear who is the greatest of this era. Mayweather has positioned himself as one of the greats.
"It was a fight where boxing could appreciate the excellence of Floyd Mayweather. He fought a smart fight, he has not fooled anyone. That's his style of boxing, a very technical fight."
