Former WBC super featherweight champion Alberto Machado was knocked out in yet another weight class Thursday night.

Canadian junior welterweight Steve Claggett dropped Machado three times, once in the second round and twice in the third round, before their scheduled 10-round bout was stopped at Casino de Montreal in Montreal. Referee Steve St. Germain officially halted the action at 2:29 of the third round.

Calgary’s Claggett (35-7-2, 25 KOs) extended his winning streak to six on the Erik Bazinyan-Jose de Jesus Macias undercard. Puerto Rico’s Machado (23-4, 19 KOs) lost by knockout or technical knockout for the fourth time in the 32-year-old ex-champion’s past six fights.
