Sirimongkol Singmanasak, who has won world titles at three different weights, will continue his attempted comeback with a rematch with Mohamadreza Hamze on May 15th which will have the WBC Asia Council Continental welterweight title on the line.

Sirimongkol has won his last 27 fights but his boxing career was rudely interrupted in 2009 when he was caught selling drugs and received a custodial sentence. Since his release from prison he has been fighting regularly, albeit not against elite level opponents.

In 1995 he won the WBU super flyweight title, in 1996 he won the WBC bantamweight belt and in 2002 Sirimongkol won the WBC super featherweight title by knocking out Kengo Nagashima in Japan.

In 2005 Sirimongkol won a WBC lightweight title eliminator but was never given the opportunity to fight for what would have been his fourth world title. The 36 year old currently holds the WBC Asia Council Continental welterweight title and will be defending this belt against Hamza at the Rangsit Stadium on May 15th.

While there is a vast gulf in experience with Sirimongkol (70-2) a seasoned veteran and  Hamza (2-1) a relative novice the two have fought once before with the Iranian, who has extensive kickboxing experience, dropping a 12 round decision to the former world champion on his professional debut in 2011.
