The World Boxing Organization has ordered a purse bid for a mandatory fight between WBO bantamweight champion Zolani Tete and challenger John Reil Casimero.
Pursuant to Section 11 through 14 of the WBO Regulations for World Championship Contests, one of the sides requested a purse bid - which will be held at 9:00 a.m. (PST) on Saturday, September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. That very same day in Las Vegas, at the T-Mobile Arena
The minimum acceptable bid for the fight is $100,000. In accordance with the WBO Championship Rules & Regulations, the President, Francisco Valcárcel, Esq. will preside over the purse bid.
Tete is promoted by Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, while Casimero is handled by Manny Pacquiao's MP Promotions.
Tete was part of the World Boxing Super Series bantamweight tournament, but due to illness he withdrew from a scheduled bout with Nonito Donaire.
Another purse bid taking place that day, also at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, will be for the vacant WBO featherweight title, between undefeated fighters Shakur Stevenson and Joet Gonzalez. The minimum bid will be $150,000.
The belt became vacant when Oscar Valdez made a decision to move up in weight to super featherweight.
Stevenson is promoted by Top Rank, while Gonzalez is with Golden Boy Promotions. Top Rank has an exclusive content deal with ESPN, while Golden Boy is with DAZN.
