Shady Gamhour has a plan that was five months in the making to correct a regretful error against Devontae McDonald.

Gamhour dropped a majority decision to McDonald in their 10-round super middleweight bout on December 12 at Legends Hotel Casino in Toppenish, Washington. A rematch was discussed in the ring immediately following the announced decision, and it was soon made.

In an April 11 card being billed as “Revenge,” staged back at Legends, Gamhour will take another crack at McDonald – and said this time he will make it count.

“The December fight I gave him two rounds, maybe three,” said Gamhour. “On April 11, I will return for my revenge. It was a mistake leaving it in the judges’ hands and that won’t happen again.”

Gamhour is trained by Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jnr, who will be in the corner for three more fighters on the card (including Dominique Roundtree, Andrew Murphy and Darnell Thompson). Jones will also serve as an analyst on the broadcast, doing so from the corners when his fighters are in the ring.

“The kids that come to me already have some talent and have a drive to get better,” Jones said. “Every fighter has parts of their game that they excel at. I find what that is – whether it is boxing, power punching or counterpunching – then make them the best at that they can be. I can’t make them into me, of course, but I strive to make them the best version of themselves.”

McDonald-Gamhour I saw McDonald win on the scorecards by scores of 97-93 (twice) and 95-95.

Gamhour, 13-2 (9 KOs), whose main residence is in Sweden when he isn’t working with Jones in Pensacola, Florida, will battle the 9-4 (2 KOs) McDonald in a super middleweight 10-rounder. McDonald, who hails from nearby Wenatchee, Washington, will have a partisan crowd behind him.

“April 11 is going to be a rematch and a redo of our December fight,” McDonald said. “My boy Shady thought he got robbed and he’s looking for revenge. I put a beating on him then and he’s got another one coming.”

In the co-main event, Dominique Roundtree, 10-0-1 (6 KOs), will battle Sean Brewer, 4-2 (3 KOs), in an eight-round bout. Roundtree is from Augusta, Georgia, while Brewer hails from Henderson, Nevada.

Andrew Murphy, 9-0 (6 KOs), from nearby Yakima, will be fighting for the second time since undergoing shoulder surgery. He will take on Virginia’s Justin Gunter, 7-4 (5 KOs), in a six-round super middleweight bout.

In a four-round welterweight clash, Jose Cervantes, 3-1 (3 KOs), from Fife, Washington, will battle Jeremiah Sierra, 2-2 (1 KO).

Opening the card, in a four-round heavyweight bout, Darnell Thompson will make his professional debut against Jalen Davis, 1-3 (1 KO).
