Sampson Lewkowicz, adviser to the WBC's Diamond champion at middleweight, Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26KOs), informed BoxingScene.com that his fighter will be ready to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30KOs) by December.

Martinez was happy to hear the news that Chavez was planning to defend his title in September, because the WBC issued a recent order which granted Chavez the ability to make a voluntary defense, but then he has to fight Martinez or face the possibility of being stripped.

"We are very happy to hear that Chavez is going to defend his title on September 24 in Mexico. Sergio Martinez will fight Darren Barker on October 1, and he will be ready to fight Chavez in December. And that fight is according to the order of the WBC, which gave Chavez permission to make his voluntary defense, but then he will have to fight Martinez," Lewkowicz said.
