BoxingScene.com was advised by middleweight king Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26KOs) that he plans to target the winner of the June 4th clash between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and WBC champion Sebastian Zbik. Martinez, currently relaxing in Madrid, Spain, is planning to sit ringside to watch Chavez-Zbik at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Califonia.

Following the fight's conclusion, Martinez will exercise his right, as the WBC's "Emeritus Champion" - to get an immediate, direct shot at the winner.

Based on what BoxingScene was told, Zbik is already on board to face Martinez next, but no reply has been issued from the Chavez camp.

"I will not allow Chavez Jr. to escape" - is the word from Martinez.

If Chavez defeats Zbik, and refuses to fight Martinez, then a petition will be started with the WBC to get the Mexican boxer stipped. If he gets stripped, Martinez is willing to fight the next available contender for the vacant belt, which is Marco Antonio Rubio - who upset knockout king David Lemieux to earn his position. Martinez wants to reclaim the belt he was forced to vacate when accepting a rematch with Paul Williams in 2010.

"I don't care about the opponent, I want my WBC title," Martinez said.
