Sam Eggington will make his return in a couple of months’ time.

The former British, Commonwealth and European welterweight champion, who has also won the WBC International and WBC International Silver belts at the weight, was beaten last time out in Manchester.

Eggington lost to Mohamed Mimoune on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s win against Ricky Burns at the city’s Arena, succumbing his EBU crown in the process, before admitting that he can no longer make the welterweight limit.

He then announced that he would be moving up to super-welterweight.

And it has now been confirmed, by the man himself on social media, that Eggington will begin his 154lb journey on March 3 at the FlyDSA Arena in Sheffield, exclusively live on Sky Sports.

The card, named ‘Rise Again’ by promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, will be topped by Kell Brook in fight against Sergey Rabchenko that will double up as the former IBF welterweight champion’s first foray in the super-welterweight division.

Also on the card, Gavin McDonnell will challenge Gamal Yafai for the WBC International super-bantamweight title and David Allen will also feature.

Boxing Scene understands that Dave Coldwell-trained Jordan Gill will box on the bill, with further additions to be revealed in due course.
