Orlando Salido, coming off his back-and-forth battle versus WBC 130-pound titlist, Francisco Vargas (which was ruled a draw on June 4th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California) is looking ahead to his next fight in the fall.
And according to the rugged Mexican, it could be a rematch of this fight or against Vasyl Lomachenko.
"They're actually talking about both fights, they're in negotiations for both of them,"said Salido on Friday afternoon at the MGM Grand media center through Ryan Burton of BoxingScene.com who acted as the translator."It's all going to come down to which one is better for me."
And by 'better' does that mean, which pays more?
"Yeah ,exactly,"admitted Salido, who added,"The fight with Lomachenko they're going to have to pay me a lot of money. Same thing for Vargas."
But if the money was equal, Salido said he would prefer,"Vargas, it's the easier fight."
Back in March of 2014, in what was just Lomachenko's second pro outing, Salido out-pointed the two-time Olympic gold medalist in a fight marred by low blows that were never penalized and coming into the fight, Salido most his WBO featherweight belt by failing to make the 126 pound weight limit.
Asked if perhaps Lomachenko feels as though this was a tainted victory, Salido stated,"He shouldn't feel that way. He had debilitated fighter there in the ring that couldn't make the weight at 100-percent. What would've happened if I would've been at 100-percent at 126?"
Regardless of who he faces next, Salido promises another entertaining fight.
"I'm just waiting for the official word and I'm ready to give a great show, as always.
