Coliseo Olimpico, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico - In a fierce battle, Juan Carlos Salgado (24-1-1, 16KOs) captured the vacant IBF super featherweight title with a close twelve round unanimous decision over Argenis Mendez (18-2, 9KOs). The scores were 115-111, 114-112 and 114-112. The bout was fought at a fast pace with both boxers landing good shots and combinations. In the fifth round, Mendez lost a point for illegal shots to the back of the head. In the twelfth and final round, Mendez dropped Salgado with hard counter during an exchange. Salgado was hurt and had to stay on his feet until the final bell as Mendez was coming close to securing a knockout.

In a back and forth fight, Katya "Katy" Gutierrez (15-3, 3KOs) made her second successful defense of his IBF world strawweight title by winning a unanimous decision over Colombia's Olga Julio. The scores were 100-90, 100-90 and 98-92.
