Welterweight contender Sadam Ali last fought on the night of April 25th at the Madison Square Garden where he out-pointed Francisco Santana over ten rounds. Since then he hasn't fought and has waited for the WBO to give him a shot at their title.

According to Eric Gomez, the V.P. of Golden Boy Promotions,"Sadam is going to be on the first HBO show we do." As for when that would take place, Gomez explained,"There's a possible February date, there's a possible March date."

Since the time he fought, Tim Bradley defeated Jesse Vargas for the interim version of the WBO title (the full-version at the time was held by Floyd Mayweather, who then retired). It was thought that Ali - who is the number one ranked contender by the WBO - would then face Bradley for this belt. But instead Bradley went on to face Brandon Rios on November 7th, in what was billed as a WBO title fight. 'the Desert Storm' stopped Rios in nine rounds at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

So just what is the status of Ali and the WBO title?

Without elaborating too much, Gomez stated,"It's pretty much been worked and (Ali) will be fighting for the title."
