Russian promoter Kirill Pchelnikov of Pushka Promotions, who co-promotes Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-0-1, 13KOs), says his company will aggressively take part in the IBF's mandatory purse bid on December 18th. Glazkov's American promoter is Main Events.
The sanctioning organization ordered Glazkov to face Charles Martin (22-0-1, 20KOs) for the vacant IBF heavyweight championship. The belt became vacant after new champion Tyson Fury was stripped for refusing to make a mandatory defense against Glazkov.
Martin's handlers wants an immediate purse bid date. His team is led by powerful manager/adviser Al Haymon, who will likely submit a significant bid to keep the fight in the United States. Haymon also works with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
Pchelnikov would like to bring the fight to Krasnodar, Russia on a date in March.
The promoter is confident of Glazkov gaining the win.
"He currently has all the ingredients for success. We believes he has everything necessary to become a world champion. This is a very underrated boxer. he's not even shown us 50% of his full potential," Pchelnikov said.
Glazkov recently made headlines overseas after announcing that he plans to file papers for Russian citizenship.
